Agree with earlier poster, once these players reach free agency Braves will no longer pay for them. Combine that with a poor farm system, and you're looking at a very bad run coming up. A return to the late 80's Braves where this is one good player to cheer for on the team, and that's about the only reason to even watch them.

Time Warner is solely responsible for the shite TV deal because it was their plan to unload the Braves all along.

quote:

“The deal was done simultaneously [when the team was being sold to Liberty]. It was to Turner’s advantage, obviously, to do it that way. They were parting with the team and they were able to structure a long-term relationship with Fox.

From last January

quote:

Liberty negotiated an asset swap with News Corp. and Time Warner that would give it control of DirecTV and the Atlanta Braves baseball team. On February 12, 2007, the deal was completed with Time Warner wherein Liberty would receive the Atlanta Braves, a group of craft magazines and $1 billion in cash in exchange for 60 million shares of Time Warner stock. The deal was approved by Major League Baseball and then completed on May 16, 2007

Yup that's right our beloved team was just an asset that was to be swapped for stock so Time Warner could regain more shares of their company. To Liberty Media we are nothing but a $ number that affects their bottom-line

And because frick Liberty Media
quote:

The company agreed in March 2013 to pay $2.62 billion for 27.3% of Charter Communications
