Explain your thoughts on the matter. I personally don't, but if you do, I'm really interested in why... TIA

Yes. I also believe God knows what I'm going to do before I do it. He isn't forcing me to do it though.

Why do you believe in free will?
Also, if God already knows what you're going to do, what's the point?

What's the point of what?

Do you mean free will in the context of God/religion or in the general sense?

Either, I suppose. I just want to know why people believe in it.

We make our own meaning in life and it is hard to find that meaning if you don't feel in control of your own destiny.

Well, that's why we feel like we are agents of our experience. Because it's important to our existence to feel as if we can control it.

Which is why people believe in free will. Next question.

Congrats.

Marriage = fine institution, imo.

That doesn't mean that it's true, though.
That wasn't the question.

I think it's reasonable to say the sum of your experiences means you would only make one decision in a given situation. It's the illusion of choice, but you were going to do the same thing no matter the other options.

Do you make choices daily?
For instance, lets say you are married. You are out with some friends, and a cute girl approaches you, ya'll chat it up, she's hot, your juices get to flowing, and she asks if you want to get out of there, and you know that its going to lead to sex.
At that moment you have a choice to make, you can cheat on your wife, or you can keep your marriage bed pure. Its your choice, and nothing is going to force you to make it other than yourself.
Yes God already knows what you are going to do, as he is all knowing, but all knowing, and a God who makes choices for you and takes away your free will are to completely different things.

Yes. But the current administration is doing it's best to quash it.

You have an illusion of choice. Every second, your brain is making decisions before you are consciously aware of them. In essence, your brain decides whether or not you sleep with said girl or not and your consciousness creates a rationalization for that decision.
