Alabama 2014 - one of the least talented on paper in the Saban era?

Don't get me wrong, they still have loads of talent, but it appears that the key skill positions on offense are lacking. Plus all the turnover on defense. There just seems to be so many unknowns about this team right now, and I haven't felt this way about a Bama team since 2008.
Will Kirby Smart be on the hot seat if his defense gets smoked again this year?

Defense has talent, missing some experience her and there, but the talent is there. A'Shawn Robinson, Jon Allen, Denzel Devall, Trey DePriest, Reuben Foster, Eddie Jackson, Tony Brown, Landon Collins, Jarrick Williams, Hootie Jones, hopefully Marlon Humphrey.
Talent is there, some guys need to prove themselves though.

Umm what? Extremely deep at RB. We have one of the best groups of wideouts in the country. OJ Howard is an extremely skilled guy at the TE position.

This happens like every year.

Besides the QB position, not really

Bama, more than likely, will not win a natty next year.
Question marks at QB, along the OL, and no true NT or lockdown CBs will lead to a couple of losses IMO.

This team is way more talented than the 2007 team.

none of these guys measure up to what you had from 2008-2012. a big reason why you guys lost 2 games.
Derrick Henry had some flashes of greatness in the Sugar Bowl, but I'm not ready to crown him.

Fowler will be more of a FB/H-Back. The three guys carrying the rock will be TJ, Derrick, and Drake. Don't let this past season fool you, TJ still may be the best RB we've had under Saban. He didn't dance in 2012, did more dancing this past season, and the fumbles weren't really around in 2012, but were in 2013. I think it was just the usual Sophomore slump.
And Henry looks like a faster Eddie Lacy, still need a bigger sample size though, but the talent is there.
Drake is fast...that's uh...about it.

Like I said, you guys still have lots of talent. I just thought some of the other Saban teams had better talent.

Maybe at RB, but at WR and TE it isn't even comparable

you failed to mention that they'll be a turnover at the kicking position.
that alone is a net gain of two games in the past three years.

Maybe. I think it's more that we have so many unknowns, but the talent coming out is probably at a higher level right now than a few years ago.

They won't have a groomed starter behind center
They'll go 10-2

As an old time Bama fan, I am not used to having this much talent on offense. In my mind, what lost the last two games was defensive lapses at the end (the long touchdown to tie the game under a minute in the iron bowl, and giving up a touchdown to OU after a first and 30 on our side of the field).
I am concerned about replacing the QB, of course. Beyond that, I am thrilled with our talent at the skill positions and expect to have an above average offense.

there's no Julio Jones out there. the WRs you have now are just as good as the supporting cast you had around Julio.

A for effort. There's not a class on campus rated lower than third and most of them were rated number 1

This thread is so 2011
