Your right, it is a business, except the players dont get paid for the millions that they (specifically the football program) bring in to the university. They get a free ride, but is that pay? No, pay is what you and I and all the guys in the NFL get. They are not kids, they are adults bringing in millions. They get 0 of that! Scholarships are nice and fine, but still they get paid nothing. Throw on top of that rules that are severely behind in the times, let alone the SEC, and get suspended from games for stupid shite like marijuana drug test fail, or being drunk (not DUI, DUI is a serious offense and SHOULD be punished strictly), or suspended license could get you suspended or kicked off the team, while other schools couldnt care less.

And how is him smoking pot hurting his team? For all you know that could be the reason why he can actually tackle and play D like a fricking beast. Him at safety, is prob the best player on the team. If anything, smoking pot has made him a better player, other than the tipped pass.

It's called "delayed gratification." If you handle your shite, keep your nose clean in school AND have the skills on the field, you'll more than make up for contributing to the school's revenue.

They may not be getting "paid", but they are being compensated. Just not with money. They get free use of tutors, meal plans, education, training facilities, and a shite ton of other perks that the normal college student doesn't get. I'm not against giving these guys stipends to give them a little spending money during their free time. After all, they don't have the time to get jobs like other college students do, but I also don't think you start paying these guys thousands of dollars. You think we have trouble keeping them out of trouble now. shite, give them the means to buy their way into even more trouble and see how much of a problem that would be.

I think we can all figure out who you voted for.

Him at safety is probably the best player on the team

No. That title belongs to Gurley.

Or how about the players follow the damn rules?

Yes. They do. They get a free education. That is payment. It is worth about 150,000 dollars over 4 years, plus they get free training for the NFL, if they make it. And MOST of them think they can make it.

If they are adults, then thye know they have to abide by the rules, or there are penalties, right? I mean...you realize if you speed you are in danger of getting a ticket. So, if you decide to speed and you get a ticket, then you have no legitimate complaints.

Doesn't matter if rules are behind the times. (YOUR opinion) they are the rules and the players are aware of the rules. this was his second offense in a year. Does this sound like an adult making good decisions? You say DUI is a serious offense. I'd be willing to bet most of these kids are driving after, or during smoking weed.

When you show a reckless disregard to team rules you hurt the team. It shows a lack of discipline. Oh....you know why that ball was NOT batted down against Auburn? A lack of discipline.

Smoking weed makes you play and tackle like a beast? Seriously? it did Ricky Williams and countless others wonders, didn't it?

And here is the crux of your argument. He is a good player, so we should allow him to do what he wants. No repercussions.
