Serious question: why is Pruitt looked at as a good DC?

He has been a DC for one year total. FSU was number 2 in total defense in 2012, it's not like he made a miraculous turnaround.

He gave up 450 yards to Auburn with a month to prepare

If I were a UGA fan, I'd be cautiously optimistic but I'm confused as to why this is looked at as a great hire

Can you let UGA fans have anything?

Yes, I said I would be cautiously optimistic.

I am asking why this is a "great" hire, as has been stated.

He's the Gene Chizik of DCs.

Ok, I asked a question. Why is it a homerun hire?

He is a Saban disciple, from the South, coached under Fisher, a DB coach, just took a team that lost about as much talents as UGA to the draft to a national title and won. What's not to like?

ETA: Plus, next to Smart, he was simply the best guy available

He held half of their opponents to single-digits and three of those were bowl teams.

UGA and FSU played three common opponents (Clemson, Florida and Auburn) with Georgia allowing 104 points to those teams and the Seminoles giving up 52.

The 31 points he allowed to Auburn was their lowest output since Oct. 5 when they scored 30 against Ole Miss.

Due to his lack of experience, it is hard to tell if this is a great hire or not. That said, getting a coordinator that led the No. 1 scoring defense on the national champion to take the same position elsewhere seems to be a pretty solid hire.

Every other FSU DC since Mickey Andrews has failed to get anything out of all of the talent in Tallahassee. He had what it took to get a National Title. No matter what you may think, it is a homerun hire, because he proved in 1 year what Todd Grantham failed to prove in 4. He can actually get results out of defensive talent.

He's a high school coordinator that leached off Saban to get gifted a crazy talented defense in the ACC.
