Exactly.

I mean hell, it looks like Kennion is the HS DE most likely to contribute this year, when this time last year (or whenever it was that he committed), it was all but assured he would have to red shirt. However, he wasn't that high ranked recruit.

A huge part of Kennion fighting for playing time has to do with the fact that we are badly under-manned in terms of edge-rushing defensive ends. You've got Lawson and Owens, and thats basically it. Lawson blows his knee out and Owens is battling infection, and there is your window for a project true freshman to potentially contribute. Even with Owens healthy you've basically got one guy. Its not hard to see why Kennion may play. They've got McKinzy taking snaps at DE too.

This is why I'm "arguing" this. We've got a big need for true pass-rushing DE's yet we've struck out on nearly every kid we were targeting early. It doesn't make sense.
