Jeff Long ( I think that's his name.
Great decision, fire a coach for lying about an affair and a little creative job criteria. He has a wife, got to figure he would try and keep it secret.
Meanwhile, Arkansas had hillbilly Smith for a year and now Phil Fulmers cousin.
I don't see Arkansas winning for a " LONG " time.

Firing Petrino was stupid. Petrino fricked up, sure, but Arkansas could have simply kept him and had him by the balls his whole career. Oh welp.

Arky did the right thing in firing that douche.

There's a simple equation to figure out if your athletic director is in danger of being fired.
If Athletic Department revenue is < Athletic Department Expenditures, then your AD is at risk of being fired.
Since Arkansas is the 2nd most profitable athletic department in the SEC and the 11th most profitable athletic department in the country, there's zero chance of him being fired.
Besides, Jeff Long is in charge of the new playoff format and he told Texas to go frick themselves.

Jessica Dorrell was on the payroll. That violated state law. Petrino had to be fired.

Arkie could have kept all that on the DL.

You aren't very informed on what happened, eh?
I guess Jeff shoulda paid off the state police department to not release the report, which is how it all started.

Ehh Petrino is a great coach and I still wouldn't mind having him, but he had to fire him. Plus Petrino was already a bad recruiter and after that he would become 10 times worse.
I'm not a fan of Jeff Long's last two hires. John L Smith for obvious reasons and Bielema. Brett looks good on paper, but he needed to hire a coach that had ties to Texas and ran an Offensive system that would hide some of the lower rated talent. Gundy, Briles, Morris or Malzahn were my top choices.

Just wait until it's time for playoffs. He's full of surprises. Tell us what you think about him when that time rolls around.
