Exactly. If you were confident before the Sugar bowl, why would you lose that confidence after the Bama loss? People have tried all year to look at one games and make a parallel to what will happen in another game.

Someone else already pointed it out, but two big underdogs in BCS bowls have already won, so should we look at that and think we have this in the bag?

Because WE were the ones that had beaten them. Those were 2 of our biggest wins. Your schedule is your point of reference to compare how good your team is. It's not perfect, but it is the best tool. Our yardstick is looking like a ruler now.
