Beating #1, undefeated Alabama probably did more to place Auburn in the NC than winning the SECCG

And alabama was #1 because they were flat out dominant over just about everyone they faced the entire year. Not because of last year's bowl game.

And before you say last year's bowl game is why they started #1...if they had started at let's say 3, do you not think they would have climbed after the season they had?

if the teams ahead of them had lost.

So why are SEC teams with more losses ranked higher than teams from other conferences?

My post was more directed towards the cachet of beating the #1 ranked team in the country. That win became Auburn's best of the season and validated them as a legit NC contender.

If Auburn and UGA are undefeated next year when the DSOR rolls around and UGA comes out with a Win, you'll appreciate Auburn winning all of their games to that point when it's time to seed for Playoffs and Bowls

It's the old adage, "If you wanna be the best, you must beat the best."
