What does winning the SEC have to do with luck and playing in the national championship game? Auburn and Alabama never relied on weird quirks like the #1 team in both polls being left out of the national championship game due to one of the teams on their schedule losing to another team (Hawaii losing to Boise State) in the final week. Bama and Auburn also never had the good fortune of jumping ahead of FIVE teams in the BCS Standings in the last week of the season to sneak into the BCS National Championship Game. By comparison, Bama only had to jump one team after losing to LSU in 2011 and two teams in 2012 when they lost to A&M. 2013 Auburn also only had to worry about jumping one team. 2003-2007 LSU was infinitely luckier than Bama or Auburn during their title runs.
