So thats why those 14 fortune 500 companies have their HQ's in metro Atlanta...must be a bunch of dumbasses running UPS,Delta,Home Depot etc

Your criteria for a good city is the businesses based there? Three words: quality of life.

Atlanta wasn't designed for the amount of people jamming its streets and flooding the city with boutique coffee shops on one corner and crack dealers on the other. However, you could live in Athens and commute to Atlanta.

I hope this isn't going to start some backlash of Atlanta supporters arguing over the point. Let's leave it at I prefer smaller cities as opposed to metropolises. Atlanta doesn't suck, its a great city. Yeehaw. Go Atlanta.

Look into east cobb. Good schools and good demographics. Close to Lockheed if you land a job around there.

Savannah is an awesome and historical city.

Valdosta is a good place to live as well. These 3 areas should have plenty of opportunities for a man with your background.

This is also high on my list of priorities. After putting in the time, being separated from family and doing Afghanistan (what a hole), QoL is important. Short term it'll be about ensuring we can afford whatever school expenses we'll have the next ~8+ yrs but I plan on spoiling momma, stepping up my bass fishing game and finding upland game every chance I can. Oh and I almost forgot, recording some music with my old band from Athens.

Cheers fellas and thanks for the feedback! I wouldn't typically hang it out there like this but my decision could drive a very fast exit and I need to cast a wide net.

Merry Christmas and Go Dawgs!!
