Well at first it seemed like once again our beloved HUD was wrecking shite, but now they are in a heated game, letting Tulane come back with 21 unanswered points to tie up the ball game.
ULL is up by a FG with 3 minutes left and the ball so it appears as though they will win. But letting the game get close against Tulane... this is not a good thing.
Has HUD dropped off the radar for some of y'all or do the HUD's hunks still preside?
Here's what I wanna know, would/ could HUD do more with our current team and would/could he do better at recruiting??

The Egg Bowl put some water on those flames.

It definitely did, and ULL has had some bad losses in that time as well.

He is coaching at ULL. They are not some powerhouse program. Vegas had the game as a pick em. No spread.

The last 2 weeks of the season definitely did.
To me, it's not so much that it was the Egg Bowl -- but that he finally beat someone as an underdog for the first time in 3 seasons. And the way we played altogether down the stretch was cause for optimism -- especially given that we've got basically everything of consequence returning.
Once we gained bowl eligibility, I think most of us accepted the fact that Mullen would be our guy. And thus, Hud's falter down the stretch was actually a blessing in disguise for our fanbase IMO because it probably keeps him in Lafayette for at least one more year...

They've only been to 3 FBS bowl games. 3 wins all under Hud.

One game doesn't make me change my stance on Mullen.

What is your stance? I'm not being a troll, I really don't know.

He was one of the very first Mullen defectors

I think Mullen is a decent coach. Not great, but good enough to consistently give us winning seasons.
I think his biggest downfall is not making a change at the OC position. Get rid of Les, and get a good OC in and we could have some really good seasons.

Here's the thing:
The 2014 hand does look better than any so far in the Muffin era. I know, people on the main board say "we always say that blah blah" but we didn't last year for damn sure.
That said, I can see him screwing it up. State almost getting a Sig win blown on a shitty FG attempt, and losing a bonehead game. Maybe I'm just pessimistic but if he hasn't grown out if those things by now he never will.
I hope I eat those words, but you frickers like for us to puff up before a season that could end in Oxford;)

With Russell or pro-style QBs, I agree. But Koenning has done pretty well with our dual threats.
I wanted him gone something fierce last year -- but I'm fine with him sticking around with the type of QBs and offense it appears we are going to run going forward...

I still like HUD and think he would do a good job here. With the egg bowl win, there was 0% chance Muffin would get fired. I will root for Mullen until he screws up next year.

Yeah, Mullen is still recruiting like shite. Maybe 2015 will be the year he finally learns how to recruit.

Right, but the question was about HUD, do y'all still believe HUD could do a better job than Mullen given recent events?

Mullen is the one calling the plays though....or at least making the final call. Koenning is more of an offensive adviser than coordinator.
He also doesn't get a lot of credit for his QB development. The man made Chris Relf a serviceable SEC QB

like how all of our qbs have terrible footwork?

Russell pretty much had the same problems the whole time he was at State. Horrible development.
