Dave, have you been happy with any UGA football head coach?

I am happy and feel honored to be a UGA alumnus and fan regardless of coaching staff. Happy IMHO is not a good descriptor for the relationship between fans and coaches; I think satisfied is the better choice of words. And no, I have never been completely satisfied with any UGA football coach including Vince Dooley and Mark Richt.

I will say this: CMR has been the best head football coach at Georgia during my lifetime in spite of the lack of a NC. Dooley was just lucky that he had Herschel Walker and just enough defense to get the job done. It might just take a Herschel Walker type phenomenon for Richt to also win a NC.

Coach Richt has many positives not the least of which is his endearing humanity. He is the best representative of our university I can possibly imagine. I just wish he was able to evolve past his deficiencies which are keeping him from taking our football program to the elite level.

Been watching UGA since the 60's and Gurley is as close to the phenom you say Richt needs as any I've seen, other than Herschel of course. We need a defense like the 80's teams had that went along with Herschel.

I agree. This ia a recurring theme with Richt's teams.
