It's the process.

Alabama's final AP rankings since 2008:

2008 - 6
2009 - 1 (New QB)
2010 - 10
2011 - 1 (New QB)
2012 - 1
2013 - 3ish (if they win their bowl game)

A couple of lost "field generals" on both sides of the ball mixed in there.
