The story now is that LSU stopped recruiting him again.

Look at it from this perspective, which I believe the staff took.

Williams is a phenomenal player. However he is likely a 1 and done. He can be a bit of a cancer in the locker room, as evident by his antics in JUCO and HS. We will be starting a true sophomore at QB. Possibly replacing both starting WR's, RB, and LT. We need guys that can help our QB develop in the long run. One guy for one year isn't going to do that. Especially one with the history of poor decision making like Williams. There are two Elite WR's in New Orleans. They would be freshmen. They along with our young WR's in Peterson, Dural, and Diarse can grow as Jennings becomes a better leader. Call it what you want. Believe what you want. Probably no one will ever know why, but that is my take. Williams would be a nice prize, and I see him doing well. I don't feel his attitude is worth it. He has gotten in trouble in all his previous stops. We need to get away from the thug reputation and go with guys that truly want to represent LSU with dignity and leadership.

Could be Speedy taking a harder look at A&M, but I never really bought that. I think seeing the IB sealed it, and probably feels that even though AU doesn't do a ton of vertical passing, he could be the clear go-to guy when the ball IS thrown.
