No the penalty was for the hit out of bounds by White. White screwed up, Josey got trucked and hurt, ref threw a flag on White. It was unfortunate, but White's shove was a frustration from having a hand in his mask. It wasn't called for, but it is what it is.

I know. I'm saying that White knows as well as refs that a stiff arm isn't a facemask. So his hit wasn't or shouldn't have been due to that. A stiff arm shouldn't frustrate a defender enough to do that.

ETA: I also don't think he meant to injure him but he may well have wanted him to feel the hit a little bit (most defenders do).

Point taken. I know if I had to run down a receiver from a missed assignment and ride him out of bounds with a hand in my face, I might be inclined to give a little love tap.

I've never understood how a defender brushing a faskmask can be a 15 yarder but a runner can grab the facemask and push the head around with no penalty.

Josey grabbed White's facemask and pushed his head around a bit and had ahold of it while going out of bounds. This doesn't excuse White from slinging him from there but most of the time when that happens, there isn't a golf cart there to stop the slide. i am shocked that White didn't get tossed out of the game for it.
