Your friend needs better sources. Nebraska is not going to make a play for Jim Tressel. No one is as a HC. He's got another 2 years remaining on his show cause. His next job is likely in administration.
Chris Peterson can - and if he wants to, will - do a lot better than Nebraska.
The only legit name on that list that Nebraska could get would be Kirby, but he has zero ties to the Midwest. His ideal HC coaching job is in the Southeast.
Besides, why in the world would Kirby take the NU job when everyone knows Saban is going to Texas the day after Bama's bowl game and Kirby gets the HC job at Bama?

Serious question. If Saban were to leave would y'all promote smart to head coach or would y'all want him to go prove that he is a successful head coach else where and come back sort of like what Malzahn did? I feel like with names recent success that the higher ups wouldn't wanna take a chance on smart.

Yeah, I thought the NCAA slapped a 5 year show-cause on him.
