One of my friends was in the Alumni band this past weekend and sent me a video of them playing From Dixie With Love
Gotta say, it still makes me choke up a bit, and I loved the director's statement that its intention was just to give people from all over something to cheer about.

I sent something to Ross Bjork on Twitter about this. Asking when we could have this come back. Still no response. Maybe soon.

If you send him an Email he'll respond within a day or so. He's very responsive to things.

I'll tell you when we'll get it back. When the retards stop screaming TSWRA at the fricking Library every Friday. Every time I've returned and hear that half the frickheads scream this in the bar, I want to punch every single one of them in the face. So long as that shite continues, we're not getting it back. Eradicate TSWRA on the Square, and we'll get it back on Gameday. You all know I'm right, and bitch slap anyone who attempts it.

I never understood why the band didn't just skip or edit the slow part where people would yell TSWRA. The administration completely botched the handling of that. Telling a group of college students not to do something makes them want to do said no no even more. Like hello we are the REBELS after all!

Am I the only one who used to enjoy FDWL and now cringes every time it comes on? Ever since the fricktards started yelling TSWRA, the song is ruined for me. I hope it never comes back.
The sooner we get away from focusing on symbols and songs and care more about winning and on the field success, the better.

The ironic thing is, the replacement version of FDWL ends with practically the same cadence yet no one yells TSWRA. I think that shows it was started by a small group of idiots who used the controversy to feel like they were standing up to "the man."
I agree though, considering there are ASB efforts to remove Dixie entirely, the administration is unlikely to bring it back any time soon.

That won't happen. So long as The Library or other places play it, it's going to be said. Nothing you can do about it.

But....The south will rise again, won't it?

I don't care if we get it back or we don't ... It's just a song at the end of the day... I've never really blamed Ole Miss' lack of sustained success in athletics on the Dixie flag, TSWRA or the happenings back in 1961... I think Rebel fans have always been so quick to blame those factors and play the WAOM card cause that was the easiest thing to do... The truth is it all starts at the top with attitude and leadership , or in OM's case, a lack thereof... We had to put a strong AD in place and completely overhaul our athletics department... Now that we have done that, it doesn't fricking matter what people yell on the square or what flag they hang from their Grove tent... shite that went down on our campus over half a century ago sure as hell doesn't have anything to do with it... Boone and the big time OM donors that kept him in his position were the problem... The difference in where we are now and where we were 2 years ago (not just football) is night and day and that's the reason.
