Now we're splitting hairs. You clearly stated that Alabama was near last in signing a black player. Which they were not.

Wilbur Jackson was recruited to play football at Alabama in 1969. He arrived in Tuscaloosa as a freshman in 1970. Since freshmen at that time were required to sit out a year, he wouldn't dress out at the games but he would practice with the team during the week.
