MAKE IT LOUDER!!!

I'm not totally againts getting rid of some woodwinds in exchange for some brass. It would help us be louder.........

What's that new song they are playing all the time now. Almost sounds like a circus tune. I know I've heard it many times, but I can't place it for the life of me.

It's called "Alabama Jubilee" once again we didn't pick it, but it's what we're given to play.

Saying "play louder" means dick. Growing up I went to games sitting in the upper deck right above the visitor's band. I couldn't ever hear the MDB, just the visitor's band. Now in the student section, I can't hear a thing the other band does and the MDB is very loud.

It's just hard to be loud in Bryant Denny

Bashing the band like this just comes off as very ignorant

I'm glad someone said this finally. I can never hear the opposing band from our section, no matter how big they are. I also had a chance to visit LSU's band on Saturday night (which was interesting) and I could hardley hear the MDB. I also had a lady come up to me and say that that was the first she could hear us in a long time. I don't know what section she was sitting in, but this sound thing is a problem. It's just the way BDS is set up. I personally think that we need to be behind the endzone like OM, State, and LSU's band (to a degree).

Disclaimer: never been in a band in my life, have no idea what goes into it.

As a fan in the now under 30 crowd. The band during play is fine for the most part. Our fans are not as into the generic cheers than say most Big 10 schools, but they seem fine. Volume is definitely an issue, as in the north end zone you can't hear them.

That being said I really find their halftime shows somewhat strange. I mean Stevie Wonder set this year. Most students don't even know a single Stevie Wonder song. And everyone in my section old and young were scratching their heads at a love song tribute for the LSU game. I wish they would, albeit it a bit selfishly, play more modern songs. Basketcase is the only song they have played that was written after 1980.

Of course this might be because of royalties or whatever, but I have heard the Michigan and Penn state bands mix it up.
