quote:Exactly. Yes luck was involved. But so was an extreme amount of skill to avoid the sack and a heads up play to know the situation.
Yes, he was lucky it was completed. Yes, it was a brilliant play.

Interpolate all you want, that play was a 'fluke' if there ever was one. Smart? I don't think so. ''What's the worst that can happen? Bama returns it? Psha, phooey with that.''

You said, "How can you call it anything but lucky" Well, i call it smart and lucky. Get it?
He could have gained a few yards to get a FG, it could have been pic 6'ed. There was nothing smart about it.
Hindsight of the outcome allows you to call it smart now.

quote:What about the first part of the play where he somehow avoids a sure sack, then the second part where he throws it 40+ yards off his back foot? That took an unreal amount of athleticism. The play involved luck and brilliance
A lucky lob into the air while falling down is not

This right here. The thing is: If that play had been unsuccessful NONE of you would be claiming it was skill. All of you would be saying: Well that's what happens when you throw it late down the middle off of your back foot while falling down.

Doesn't matter, throwing it up for grabs that close to FG range and risking an INT is not smart.

You got that half right. You can't use hindsight to call it brilliant. It was lucky. That's it.
I'm not saying JFF isn't great, but that play isn't a great demonstration of his brilliance.

There's a difference between a QB who's in sync with his receivers, knows what they can do, and gives them an opportunity to perform and a QB who's just throwing up prayers hoping receivers will "bail him out."
Someday when your team has a half decent QB again, you might realize that.

There's a lot less control in an interception than there is in a punt.

The important part of that play is the completion. The throw being completed was 100% luck. How are you not getting this?

quote:Exactly. We have the same situation with Mett and Landry. It isn't a bail out when it keeps happening over and over and over

You cannot say on that play JFF knew his receiver would come down with that. Come on.

After he completes one of these on you next week and crushes your team's hopes and dreams, at least you can sit there in your recliner and talk about how much smarter you are than him.

Kind of hilarious that Driskel beat you guys last year in your house.

If Mett made that same kind of throw to Landry with that many defenders around, I'd be the first to tell you it was nothing other than dumb luck.

You're clearly an idiot. You're never going to get it.

I understand that your years of watching Mett, JJ, and Lee makes throws like that seem like the worst idea ever, but after watching Johnny complete those passes time after time after time after time...calling it luck just makes you look stupid.

Could have also thrown it away and not risked anything. Like he's been saying: You're using hindsight to justify the pass when if he hadn't and it had been returned for a touchdown (pic six) you would not be saying the same thing.
''Pic six aside, that was a good decision.'' Lol.
