He was out scholarship kicker and a RS Fr. He was beat out for the duties by walk-on Elliott Fry, and with Fry ranked 5th in the SEC for kickers, it didn't look like Nick was going to get a shot. Good luck to him. St Germain had offers from several small schools before committing to USC and it's likely he'll find a place with one of those teams.

He hasn't said yet. He had offers from Georgia Southern, Middle Tennessee State and South Alabama, so it might be one of those schools.

He brought it up to the coaches, they agreed that it was the best move and he would get a shot a playing time somewhere else.

Well, there's one schollie freed-up that we expected. Vonaschek is gone, so that's two. Need to find at least two more. Wonder who they will be? Sport, Brent, Jeffreys? Someone else?

You might be right on the estimate of 2.

We have 4 Sr's leaving, then add in maybe 3-4 Jr's going to the NFL, plus Vonasheck and St Germain leaving, that adds up to 9 or 10 scholarships available next year.

We are allowed to have 82 on scholarship next year. Currently, we have 78. Rivals Scholy Breakdown (They haven't removed St Germain yet.)

So there is another 4 scholarships we have to add bringing the total available to 13-14 (depending on Jr's leaving early for NFL.)

I think that most likely it would be 3rd+ year players who aren't on the 2 Deep, by the end of the season. However, note that Rhodes and McLaurin were both walk-on's who got scholarships his year, they might not have them next year, even though they are performing well. Those might be the 2 we need, or it could be 2+ other guys who fit the criteria in this paragraph.

You gotta figure fry will get a schollie. We still need to free up a couple more. Hate to speculate but you have to figure salley(rb) will be encouraged to look around.

I don't think Fry gets one, he might deserve one (especially if he ends up in the Top 5 in the SEC), but I don't think he does, b/c he can pay his own way, like he did this past year.

As far as Salley, I think it could be 8 different players who fit the criteria of 3+ years and not in the 2 Deep. I'm now thinking that the 2 or 3 guys might give themselves the nod before the Spring Semester starts.

The 1 exception I have for a 3+ year/not on the 2 Deep player is Deon Green. We will lose too many DL this year, and we need to keep him.

Spurrier wants to reward him - so there will be some Pell Grants or Academic Scholly money or something sent his way - within the rules.

He may just flat-out put him on a full ride for that matter. The kid is worth it quite honestly.

There are going to be some surprises with regards to fall-offs between now and signing day and even further into the spring and summer.

I know of a couple of DBs that are on the hot seat right now - one in particular and another who is on the cusp of having his seat get hotter as well.

I think we should hold off on the scholarship and reward him with an all-you-can eat card at Sizzler or something. Put some meat on his skeleton.

A couple of weeks ago, the P&C ran a story about Fry. He has diabetes, and has to check his sugar several times a game. Poor guy literally can't put on weight because of the condition.

Nice to read a post of yours without busting a fellow troop's balls in the combat zone.

Thank you.

I lost part of my pancreas all of my spleen gall bladder appendix part of my liver and one of my kidneys to injury years ago. Been shooting insulin since the early 80s shortly after Granada. Fry is Type 1 which is the same as me but different. I've known this about him but was wondering when his would be outed.

He's a good kid. Might you link the story?

Thanks in advance.
