and is recruiting better than UK ever has.

This is the part that's so messed up from a Mizzou perspective. Entering the SEC and the East was always gonna be a challenge, but lets face it even the most ardent Big Blue backer would probably concede that the two programs in the East that Mizzou would at least have initially hoped to always compete with (I'm not saying consistently beat, mind you, but at least always feel good about competing with) were Vandy and Kentucky.

So voila, just as Mizzou enters the league, both Vandy *and* Kentucky have started recruiting at a level that they pretty much have *never* recruited at, true high level national recruiting hauls with 4 star blue chip kids out the wazoo. Along with the "down" program amongst the East's blue bloods, Tennessee, also spiking up its recruting to national top ten levels. And the other three SEC East teams doing what they do on the recruiting trail.

Granted, Mizzou is showing this year and showed in the Big 12 during many years that recruiting rankings are not everything and Pinkel's program does a great job of coaching up less heralded recruits who are good athletes. But its still really really bad luck for Mizzou to enter the East at this point in time. I would submit that NEVER in the hundred or whatever year history it is of the SEC that UK and Vandy have been in the league together have both those programs been simultaneously recruiting at this high a level. It's freaking insane.

Vandy is ahead of UK right now because they have had a good HC for 3 years now, and Franklin has made Vandy competitive.

Honestly, Missouri has surprised me this year, they are a very good football team. But I do agree, teams that have been down for a while in the SEC East have had changes that will make them competitive in future years.
