We are going this weekend with the family. Are there any good local beer stores or breweries there? I see there is a moonshine store of some sort there. I guess I'll have to stop by there to see whats up.
Also, I plan on heading to Knoxville for the game Saturday. Are there any local breweries there or perhaps on the way there?
TIA.

The moonshine store is in the middle of the strip. It's just another tourist trap.

Haha yes. Good memories of childhood there.

The Food City east of town had the best beer selection I found last time I was there 5 or so years ago. And it wasn't that great a selection.
Seem to remember a restaurant on the main drag with brewery in their name, but not for sure.
If you can bring your own beer, I'd do that. Gatlinburg is the worst place on earth, and I'd just sit in the cabin and drink if I had to go there.

This is what I'm afraid of. I do hear Cade's Cove is pretty cool.

There are more pancake restaurants than you can shake a stick at.

The old Mill in Pigeon forge is pretty good

Gatlinburg is insanely touristy and crowded and trafficky and tacky and trashy and rednecky and awesome and fun

I haven't been in ages even though I'm close by so I'm not much help. Now, if my parents were here I could tell you where to go and what to do.

Yeah, Smokey Mt NP is cool. It's worth a drive up to Clingman's Dome as well. Just avoid the main strip in Gatlinburg, unless you're into that cheesy, touristy crap.

If you want to see wildlife and natural beauty Cade's Cove is awesome. It really is.

Enjoy the traffic. Last time I was there construction was still going on and it was a pain to get anywhere.

Why anyone in their right mind would go to Gatlinburg is beyond me. There are tons of mountain towns to rent cabins that don't involve a mix of thousands of rednecks and Yankees.
