Or, perhaps their family transplanted to the south generations ago and passed down thru the family the northern "salt and pepper" way to eat grits.

Any true southern old timer will tell you that grits should be eaten one way and one way only:

with Butter and Sugar or Syrup. Sweet grits.



You sir, have been lied upon. Sugar on grits? You are fricking with us. As far as syrup goes, you use Karo or Golden Eagle syrup and mix it with soft butter. You then take your homemade biscuit and dip it into the concoction.But you never put syrup on grits. NOW you have been educated from a southerner who comes from a longgggggggggg line of southerners.
