And again, cause I keep having to say this, I am not clamoring to fire Richt. Guy hasn't given me the loss where I can use it as a launch pad. But this whole cowering in fear because a completely incompetent staff on UT made not one but 2 absolutely horrible hires is fricking stupid. Have some faith in our AD and program to attract a top notch guy.

But it isn't just UT.

AL had to go through the Dubose/Franchione/Price/Shula period (8 years) to even get to Saban.

I also point to USC (Kiffin?), Notre Dame (Davie, Willingham, Weiss) USCjr (Holtz)

All storied programs with tons of money and recent coaching changes that didn't work for them. Assuming the next guy, or even the one after that will give us a better result is wishful thinking.

Notre Dame definitely made mistakes along the way so I guess that was a bad example but Bama and USC had sanctions they also had to deal with in addition to a coaching search.

I guess I am also willing for Georgia to risk mistakes and maybe a half decade of mediocre football if it means we can keep swapping staffs until we find one that can fully reach the precipice that our program is beyond capable to reach.

Instead I feel like that Georgia is a Ferrari and that Richt is driving 55 mph in the right lane. If anything the break up of complacency that has permeated the football program would be good, almsot like a cleansing fire. Consistency is great and all but this complacency is going to render Georgia the next Auburn until we win like they did 50 years later in 2030.

That all said you have definitely made a solid point in going further back in the coaching searches. I guess it's just how willing everyone is to get burned in order to reach glory if that is to be had.
