IF Alabama wins out then likely he would not have made a major mistake that cost his a victory no need to bring up other seasons. But Manziel and Mett have made said mistakes.

Yes, but Mariota and Winston have not. I'd still vote for (if I had that opportunity) AJ over those two if he wins out, for the entirely inappropriate reason that "By God, he deserves it for those 3 years." I know I'm cheating. Don't care.

Mett and JM have made mistakes because they don't have one of the best defenses in cfb. AJ doesn't take the risks these qbs do because he knows that he has a great defense to rely on.
