It's a small conservative school with a predominant white Christian populous and fan base. It refers to the close connection Auburn fans are supposed to have for one another. It's essentially a different way of saying fanbase and beats saying "Auburn Nation" like Gator Nation.

fricking Clemson tries to call themselves the family now. Because Auburn did. I love it. Especially when we're beating that arse and I'm drunk in their stadium yelling about how they are such a shitty family. frick Clemson.

Because they are all alone against the great big monster Alabama and Alabama conspires with state politicians, the SEC, the NCAA, the FBI, the Justice Dept, Dept. of Education, university accreditation orgs, major news media outlets, the Vatican (not kidding, they really believe this. OK maybe not the Vatican) all to keep Auburn from succeeding in any way shape or form and anything illegal or unethical that occurs at Auburn is part of the conspiracy. Of course, if you ask them how they managed to win a national championship AND have not only the NCAA but the SEC also keep a player, who probably should have been suspended, eligible you will get a blank stare. They can't explain it.
