A point about Mullen

For five years we've read from Ole Miss fans and our own that a big part of our poor recruiting has to do with Mullen's poor handling of the recruits...and well their egos. Why is it a stretch to think that the same poor social skills he shows in recruiting wouldn't stretch into the boosters world?
They've invested millions in the new facility and stadium upgrades. If there's a better option out there willing to play ball and results are obviously dipping with Muffin what is holding them back?

Unless he loses out, I don't see any way he gets fired unfortunately. He will manage to beat Arkansas and people will just say well we almost went bowling.

Losing the Egg Bowl for the 2nd straight year will definitely put him on the hot seat. Unfortunately for a lot of fans that is all that matters. If he manages to upset Ole Miss, we ain't never getting rid of him.

The stadium expansion is keeping his seat warm too, but the earliest anything will happen is following next year's season.

barring a melt down, we will win more than enough next year to go bowling.
I will assume he will make changes to the staff to buy more time.
BTW, I consider this season a complete melt down.

I just can't understand this line of thought. We have lost to Auburn on the road only by them throwing a jump ball to end the game, and two games where we were 14+ point under dogs.
Did we under-perform against BG? Yes, but that is a typical letdown game and we still won. Did we under-perform against UK? Ehhh maybe, but they also played South Carolina close.

The line of thought is that these are not isolated incidents with Mullen. We have had several instances of just falling short. 2009 with LSU and to a lesser extent Houston. 2010 Auburn and Arkansas. 2011 Auburn and South Carolina. He has had a couple of nice wins, but I think (I am among them) that he has done everything he can here. We are in a better situation now so that's great. I would just like to move on.
If we beat South Carolina I will be on here to eat crow.

I'm glad I don't think like this. The Gene's Page runs deep through you, my man.
My bad, darkhorse, I thought you were referring to this year.

Have you looked at the schedule for next year? He's right about that. Hell if Mullen doesn't win 8 games regular season next year he should be fired.

I think he's referring to this season, brah
Now I see the words "next year"....

The next two years were looking good until Mizzou all of a sudden turned it around. Next year Vandy and UK, the next UK and Mizzou

Vandy is not looking that scary though. Especially after they lose Matthews and their QB. Franklin needs to bail out.

I don't think we will fire him after next year, but I think he'll use next year's season to jump somewhere else. That's why I think something will happen next year.

I get it, Mullen has faults, no doubt about that. I'm just saying that from a W/L perspective, nothing unexpected has happened this year to cause this mass hysteria. If Ole Miss had lost to LSU, most of this anti Mullen stuff would still be viewed as an outlier view. Could we do better than Mullen? Yes, but the only school in the country who cant say that about their coach is Alabama. We could also do much worse.

Like always, he'll make some changes to the defensive staff and keep the offensive staff largely the same. He's never changed the offensive staff when he wasn't forced too. Hevesy, Keonning, Sallach, etc will stay until mullen leaves.

And we have the best offense in the history of MSU....

Sallach definitely needs to go. They need to go out and spend some money and get a good recruiter. Sallach was a last minute garbage replacement for Brewster.
