One of the biggest reasons for optimism about Tennessee’s future is the obvious ability of this staff to get so much improvement from so many of its players in such a short period of time.

The same quarterback (Justin Worley) who couldn’t please anyone earlier this season has led two go-ahead drives in the fourth quarter against two top-15 opponents in his past two games. The same tailback (Rajion Neal) who couldn’t get extra yards the past several years suddenly is grinding out plenty of yards after contact. The same wide receivers (Pig Howard and Marquez North) who couldn’t make big plays when they needed to make them earlier this season now are making circus-style catches. The same kicker (Michael Palardy) who couldn’t make clutch kicks to save his life is now one of the league’s better punters and kickers. The same defensive line that couldn’t affect even FCS quarterbacks now is recording multiple sacks every week. The same secondary that surrendered nearly 500 passing yards at Oregon has held two of the nation’s best senior quarterbacks to less than 200 yards passing in its past two games. The same defense that couldn’t get off the field on third down against South Alabama routinely got off the field against Georgia and South Carolina.

We've progressed under Butch Jones, something we haven't seen in quite some time. The team we have today is not the same team we trotted out in Autzen.

When reading various quotes from in and around our program, there's no doubt our players believe they can compete. Butch has done away with Dooley's doom and gloom mentality, and it only took half a season.

Worley is slighty better than bad, Peterman is atrocious.

Yep. He's good for four to five mind numbingly bad throws a game, if he can limit that to one or possibly zero, he becomes more than serviceable.

Truth. Every now in then he makes some throws, and that's like seeing her after 13 beers.
