1hitter through 5 and that was an infield hit to first batter of the game that should have been an out. Think I want the kid in game 7 of the World Series if needed. Kid is crazy good

Just picked up the win to send St Louis to the World Series.

Give me Wacha for MVP of the NLCS.
Beltran might get it, but freakin Wacha is a beast. Sorry for the drunk posts but I love this kid.

This kid has the biggest balls I think I've ever seen. WEll not seen but you know what I mean. I remember Ankiel being lights out in regular season and hitting the mascot come playoffs. This crazy frick is throwing no-nos just about in must win games and series clinching games. Just nuts.

Damn dude was so impressed with Wacha he couldn't even get it out of his mouth. Wacha...what a world class guy too. Have I said it before?
Thank you A&M. Y'all helped develop one helluva pitcher who happens to be a world class guy too.
ETA - He did win the MVP if I forgot to say that.

St Louis found themselves a star.

Reedus did you know that Kershaw was committed to play Baseball at A&M. Kind of an Aggie vs Aggie pitchers duel last night, although I'm glad the actual A&M former player won.

This is why we suck in baseball now.

Knew he was a Texan. Did not know he had committed to A&M. Could you imagine the teams y'all would have fielded. Not sure your rotation had room for everyone.

No one really talks about Kershaw getting away. Josh Beckett, on the other hand... We talked about that every game day for about five years.
That's life when you've only got 11.7 scholarships.

given our hitting woes over the last few years, losing Middlebrooks may have been a bigger draft loss

Add Kohl Stewart to our list of draft losses.
Reedus I used to work with Steven Garcia's Dad when I lived in Austin 2 years ago. Those last couple years in the Big 12 were rough for both our teams.

Mizzou has done a piss poor job with the baseball program, even when they had solid teams. No marketing. No radio, much less tv. Hopefully that changes with being in the SEC.

When the SEC Network gets booted up we should see a big boost in the number of games on tv, that should help recruiting.
Interesting fact: Steven got a minority scholarship in Missouri that wasn't available to him here in Texas because of our large Hispanic population, and is one of his biggest reasons he choose Missouri.

baseball recruiting is so weird to me. I spent some time Friday with a super star hotshot prospect that was a 1st round pick out of high school and chatted with him about recruiting (he signed with a smaller Tx school but went pro). He told me he never once heard from the A&M coaches and he was a late bloomer that blew up his senior year in HS.
You have to walk a fine line recruiting. You want good prospects but if they are too good, they go MLB. I can't even think how best to go about that strategically.

It's a really strange situation, and only having like 11.5 scholarships makes it that much harder to get decent players.

We also lose some to JUCO. Not because of grades. But as I've been told, they can do one year of JUCO and enter the draft again. So if they get drafted, but not quite where they want, they go JUCO and enter the draft the next year whereas if they went to Mizzou, they'd be roped in for years.
The piss poor job at Mizzou I was speaking of was as much about building support as it was the recruiting. I'm in St. Louis and it's damn near impossible for me to follow a game. Hope you're right about the SEC network.
