Saban ignores some basic economic realities. In order to fund these expensive programs we need to have 7 and prefer to have 8 home games every year. If your entire schedule consists of teams from BCS conferences, then you will end up with only 6 homes games. Furthermore, a 9-game conference schedule means that every other year you will automatically have 5 away games (meaning all the other games have to be home games, and that can't always be done).
