The ranking is also about where we are right now. Right now, we have two losses, including one to the #25 team (at the time), which was a major upset.
Right now, we have a craptastic defense and our awesome offense is not so awesome anymore due to injuries. It could be argued that we should be even lower in the polls right now, but perhaps our wins over LSU and SC are keeping up higher than we would be otherwise.
I have no problem with SC being ranked higher right now.

This. People aren't gonna feel bad for Georgia and rank them what they could have been had there not been injuries. And they shouldn't. The rankings reflect the current college football landscape and with this defense we are lucky we are this high even with the body of work.
