What happened to Bama's running game last night?

21 rushing attempts for 66 yards? 38 yards of that came from one run by Yeldon. Cal Poly and Tulsa each put over 200 yards rushing on Colorado State. Am I missing something here?

They were running their "vanilla" offense still

I have no idea. I'm nervous to find out the true answer to this. Only time will truly tell if this team is ready to prove it has a legitimate running game.

CS dismantled Bama's running game. Sad times for Alabama football.

I am interested to see what they can do running the ball against LSU considering that LSU has been a little weak stopping the run this year

communication issues.

I'm not too worried. Yeldon only got 7 or 8 carries. Drake needs to start playing more than Fowler.
Plus having Steen/Cooper/Norwood out really hurt the flow of the offense.

They were going easy on Jim Mcelwain

I am going to preface this by saying TJ Yeldon is the best running back on the team.
Kenyan Drake needs more carries (not more than TJ). He MIGHT be the most polished back Alabama has. I wanna see if he can prove it. I would love to see a rotation of Yeldon and Drake like Alabama has had in the past with Ingram, Trent, Lacy, and Yeldon.

Not sure if serious, but it's a bit hard imho to disagree at the moment. /cry We better learn a god damn lot this week during practice.

Also, Alabama is throwing the ball a lot more this year. Alabama was running play action last night and they weren't even trying to run the ball to set it up. Very strange. CSU and Va Tech games have both had very weird play calling.

The loses on the O-line have really shaken up the bama offense. Nov. 9th may be very interesting

The weirdest thing about it was the 3rd down plays. The WR's just couldn't seem to find the 1st down markers. Getting into 3rd and longs didn't really help that though

I'll be glad when Cooper is back out there at 100%. OJ Howard is becoming more integral week to week as well. Did Norwood play last night? I didn't see AJ throw to him once. Anthony Steen was out too. Saban obviously wasn't too concerned because he still put the backups in towards the end. But Like I said, it was a very strange game offensively.

True, but one thing is for sure... The OM game is the first game without some sort of weird factor.
1. Va Tech seemed like vanilla offense because special teams scored a lot and we wanted to reveal as little as possible to A&M. Not to mention that Va Tech seemed a bit undervalued in the preseason.
2. A&M we OVER prepared for and psyched ourselves out. But, still not sure why our secondary seemed that ineffective.
3. McElwain does know Saban's mind very well. That sounds like a TOTAL excuse, and it may be. We should have annihilated CSU. Maybe Saban was being nice to McElwain by giving that team a boost. Maybe Saban was playing vanilla. What we DO know is that it is unprecedented for Saban to seem -that- polite to another team. It would take a serious conspiracy theorist to go along with all that.
Ole Miss time now. It's time to play. If we look weak against them, I will concede to myself that we definitely have discipline issues that are to blame. And really, I'm already there. It's just sort of the last game I'll give the team to win me over and keep the faith. I've been struggling here. We definitely don't seem like the team of the last few years.
All good though. Alabama is the greatest football program of all time, and Saban likely the best coach of all time. Blasphemy a bit I know. I reckon they can have a down year from a national title here and there without too much backlash.

Everything's fine.
Signed,
Very nervous Posi-Bammers
Seriously, though, Bama abandoned the run almost completely. Just mind-bottling..

This is one thing about the A&M game that gets blown out of proportion. The struggles in the secondary was based on one mismatch. Mike Evans on John Fulton. Mike Evans alone accounted for almost half of A&Ms offense on just 7 catches.

Who knows, really. Bad performance in run blocking, and AJ and the receivers were really off. Dinking and dunking for 2 yards a play isn't going to help open up the running game.
We'll find out Saturday. I think they'll have a tough time.
