No, that's for all players without the ball. If the ball carrier loses his helmet the play is dead.

What I don't get is the rule that allows the replay booth to overrule the ejection of a player flagged for targeting, but they can't over rule the targeting violation. In fact, when the head official announced the ruling he said "there is no targeting violation." Seems like you could either overturn all of it or its not even reviewable.

That and the targeting penalty were confusing.
How in the hell is a defensive player, in the heat of battle with the #1 team in America and a national audience, supposed to just turn it off? I think play should be stopped whenever anyone loses his helmet.

What Danielson said was that the player can't continue to play. The play itself is not stopped.
I don't know the specifics of the rule, but if a defensive player loses his helmet, he must discontinue participation. This was the ruling in the game when an A&M defensive lineman lost his helmet and continued to pursue the ball carrier.
If the ball carrier loses his helmet, the play is stopped by rule.
I suspect that if an offensive player other than the player with the ball loses his helmet, that player must also discontinue participation.
I'm too lazy to look it up.
