Bama Fans - How will Saban play it with early 3 & longs (if there are any lol):

Will he be more concerned abut getting behind in a shootout and push hard for first or play conservative and punt relying on D like he regularly would to avoid an early turnover.
Feel free to expound on his offensive aggressiveness v. protect ball game calling.
Thank you all

We'll just throw it longer

Bama needs to run the ball 100% of the time until A&M proves they can stop it.

Sabanh as adopted a more aggressive philosophy in the last couple of years. On his coaches show every week he talks about how we have to be more effective passing the football. We throw quite a bit on 1st down. Remember AJ broke the single season TD pass record last year almost 2 to 1.
3rd and long, We're trying to pick it up. Cooper and Jones and going to be intermediate to deep targets all day and look for the Yeldon screen to resurface.
I look for us to be VERY aggressive in this game.

Here's what's going to happen, and I need you all to bookmark it so that you can come back and marvel at my knowledge after the game:
Bama is coming out with 5 WR's and throwing all over the field. Saban knows he has a pass-blocking line that needs some work in their run blocking. That's why they were trying to run the ball against a stacked box in the VT game. That, and the fact that he didn't want to show A&M ANYTHING.
Eventually, A&M says, "frick, AJ's thrown 4 TD's already, we've GOT to get the safeties back." We all know A&M's D-line blows anyway, well now it really blows. Bama starts gashing them for 8 yards a play on the ground by running off tackle and pulling extra blockers.
In the end, A&M fans look like UGA fans in the blackout game as the commentators marvel at yet another masterpiece by Lord Saban.
Do you think I'm just making this up? Do you? DOOOO YOU?

3 and long? When your opponent gives up 5 yards per rushing attempt, how many times will you have 3rd and long?

Teague - Nice theory I guess. I think Bama tests the line early and often until its stopped.
Aggressiveness is kind of my deal. Ball control has always been the big factor over the last decade. Even more than it always is. Defensive football wins. But offense is resurging.
So I wonder how Saban sees opportunities to pin the ags on the 15 by running up gut and hoping vs. throwing a risky 20 yd out.
Or just throwing at all.
The more aggressive response is very interesting. Saban definitely has the horses - it just goes against his instinct to let the ball get risky. Same as Miles here. They both possibly are changing for the same reason.

King Crimson
#1 - I alluded to this issue with humor in the title but thanks for bringing it up anyway with a post game factual stat even though its pregame.
#2 - I guess you are right - Saban and staff made a decision to not consider the possibility of 3rd and long - due to the certainty that it will never happen. You should look into coaching.
#3 - shouldn't you be lighting a fart somewhere, not posting on football board.
Please refrain from posting on my football threads in the future despite the allure. A simple "in" will be accepted if you have no football knowledge to add.

Calm down. I think we're all taken aback that this is apparently an actual football thread and not some idiotic jab or flame.

I know - I had an awesome football thread yesterday.
You have to admit that was a funny come back. Huh.
I went and asked Patton to get some football types on here - he is about the only one who understands me. and he is so hot. Damn. Even his x.

He will be so conservative that he'll make Rush Limbaugh look like a liberal.

Interesting - this is different from opinion of your brethren. I hope this thread takes off - I am going to go crazy waiting for this game. Need ball talk.
