Are Jenkins, Harris, and Stansbury that much better than their backups?

If not, we're in deep shite.

Jenkins is probably the best player on our defense other than maybe Everett. Harris is a much better cover corner than Jacobs. Stansbury is solid contributor, but IDK if he is that much better than what we have. He does game experience though.

Jacobs has been a pretty good lock at CB so far.

Anyone else notice that once Darion Claiborne came in the game, the first thing he did was blow up a play in the backfield on 3rd down?
The next thing he did was tip a pass which turned into a Nate Askew Pick 6.
Kid needs to be on the field.

Jenkins is, right now, twice as good as any other LB on the roster.
Harris is kinda soft but has the best pure man cover skills.
Stansbury is a great run defender and allows us to not play a freshman at one of the end spots regularly.
You already saw what a difference Ennis made. Those gut runs against Rice weren't there this week. All SHSU big plays were outside runs and broken coverages.

He's better than last year but he bites on pumps and double moves too easily. He's a stop and go deep ball risk every down.

based on some of the shite posted both here and on the rant, I'm going to go way out on a limb and say that our defense absolutely stuns people this week. And I'm certain everyone will say that Bama's offense laid an egg afterwards and give us no credit. frick it. Who cares? Just score more than them and anyone can say whatever they want.

IMO a "stunning" defensive performance would mean holding Bama to 21-24, because there is a very real chance they get into the mid-40s.
If we hold Bama to less than 30 we win I almost guarantee we'll win, both because I think we score in the 30s and because holding them under 30 probably involved multiple turnovers since I don't see them punting much.

Yea Claiborne had like three big plays in a row, capped off by the tipped pass.
After rewatching the game, Daeshon Hall and Golden need to play more. Hall single handed stopped a drive on consecutive plays. I think he plays more, probably because we will run a good amount of 4 man front. Golden played well in the beginning, blowing up a play. Not sure why he didn't get more action.
Im not as impressed with Walker. He has the size but he gets vertical and has zero leverage.
With Ennis, Obioha, Zo Williams, Hall, Golden, and Stansbury, I feel a lot better about the line. That's a quality group of guys, and there is still depth behind them.

well, yeah, that's pretty much my point. We play a really high tempo that puts the defense on the field a lot. We're never going to win games 10-7. But our defense has been deceptively good.
You are basing your opinion on the first two games when we were missing half our best players and Snyder wasn't gameplanning, he was using it as a teaching exercise. And I'm certain because of our tempo people won't respect our defense regardless. We may not win this week, but the defense is going to surprise some people (apparently, you included). I try to avoid predictions but the score in this game is going to be a lot lower than people expect.
