Kyle has always been a memorial to those Aggies killed in WWI and until recent times, no one was allowed on it but players (and yell leaders). There are 55 American Flags flying for a reason. I don't remember what year they changed that policy but it certainly was after I was in school

Oh hey you're right. I always heard the flags didn't mean anything.

My sophomore year ('76) my company's seniors were the O.D.'s for a game - strangely also against SMU. And there was a similar incident in that game, too, but our dingbat C.O. wasn't dingbat enough to draw his sword. No violence was involved, just a "you need to leave", followed by the SMU cheerleaders leaving. I kinda sorta wonder if that mild incident led to the '81 debacle. The idiot who drew his sword in '81 should have gone to jail.
