It does hold a lot of weight...you can't lose your conference and call yourself national champs. It's stupid.

Well you can if you beat your conference champs in a championship game. Actually makes perfect sense. Especially if you tied records with them and had yet to play them.

Really? And if you are Notre Dame and are not in a conference? I mean, they don't have to play a Conference Championship game, so they have one less tough game to play than everybody else. Should they have played for the Natty last year? I mean..we all know what happened there, don't we?
