Has anyone taken the shuttle before? My parents are coming to the game on Thursday, and they didnt want to fight traffic or pay to park closer to the stadium. What are the pros and cons of the shuttle? They don't plan on tailgating much other than stopping by my spot in the Fairgrounds right before gametime. Any info would be appreciated.

The shuttle from the Arena is an EXCELLENT way to get to the stadium, but they still drop you off by the fair grounds rocket entrance and you walk a third of a mile to get in the stadium.
The big downfall about it is the line AFTER the game, if they aren't on that first grouping of loaded buses, they will be standing there waiting for the buses for a while to take them back to the Arena lot. The line for departure starts building up before the game, and I've seen it back up pretty far, (last year I parked over in Seawells though,) but I walked by that long line several times.
If your parents are elderly, I would advise them to just sit in the car and deal with the traffic associated with parking near the stadium. The traffic controls around the stadium have drastically improved over the past 10 years. Although the buses get the express pass and cut down a side road that takes them through the ole Capital City Bombers stadium, and I think they get a police escort so they don't have to wait to turn onto Assembly.

My parents are upper 50's and in good shape, so the walk from there wouldn't be an issue at all. My dad walks 45 holes of golf per week after work, so I know he could definitely handle it, and I feel sure my mother could too. I was more interested in the timing part. What time would they need to get to Colonial Life in order to have adequate time to make kickoff, etc?
I have a spot in the fairgrounds, but I am also staying in Columbia Thursday after the game, so them riding with me wasn't an option. They only go to one or two games per year, and I was just looking for an easy option for them that would keep them out of traffic, etc.
Thanks for the information.

First off, I'm jelly that your dad get's to play 45 holes a week, but that's besides the point.
I've done the Colonial life thing one time, when I gave my normal pass to my friend and wanted to try it out the Colonial option with my dad. It took about 20 minutes to get from the lot to the fairgrounds, but we didn't have to wait on a bus and one pulled up right when we walked up.. I would think your parents should give themselves atleast an hour from when they get to the Arena lot before kickoff.
If they are cool with the possibility of standing a little while after the game to catch a bus then the Arena parking option might work well for them.

My dad walks 9 holes at our local course every night after work for "exercise." AKA: To get away from the Honey Do list my mom gives him.
Thanks for the information.

Hey y'all.
I'm prolly gonna take this shuttle to the game.
Does anyone know the closest hotel to Colonial Life Arena? And how stringent is the no beverage policy on the shuttle? Wanna try and take a backpack cooler...

Jaco's has parking. You should just park there.

There are three hotels relatively close to the Arena. The Hilton Columbia Center, Hampton Inn Historic District and a Courtyard on the corner (ish) of Assembly and Blossom. I know the Hilton and Hampton are probably already either sold out or as close to being there to make the price pretty steep. No clue about the Courtyard.
