Has anyone here ever broken/fractured their tailbone?

OK, let's get past the gay jokes... I jumped off a boat at a pretty high rate of speed today, and when I started swimming back I noticed a pretty good bit of sharp pain in my posterior sacral region. It hasn't gotten better, yet it only really hurts (more sharp pain) when I sit or lay in certain positions. There is no nagging or aching pain at all.

Yeah, alcohol was involved. Yada, yada, yada...

I'm not going to a fricking doctor or an emergency room, but thanks for any help, SECRanters!

Our crackerjack medical staff will be here shortly to assist with your literal butt hurt.

I recommend more alcohol and pain medication

At this very moment and time, this could certainly apply to TTsTowel.

When I was younger I broke my tailbone at a waterpark, it hurt like hell and constantly.

Did you, by chance, fall backwards when you jumped?

ETA: go in head, or butt first?

Well, legs first, and then my arse hit... Thing is, I didn't feel anything when I first hit, just when I was swimming back to the boat.

My wife broke her tailbone skiing, 15 or so years ago.

It has never healed and it bothers her to this day.

I probably don't help her condition.

Yours should be fine in a week or two.

I only ask because it sounds like a hi-speed enema, and I wish I were joking. Back in the day I water skied often, and I received a couple of those over the course of a few years.

I had the same kind of pain. It's actually fairly common to water skiers.

Hmmm... Well, I hope you're right, man! I'd much rather it be that than an actual broken or fractured tailbone. About how long did it take to recover from those when you were younger?

The broken tailbone? About 2-3 weeks.

The unwelcomed enema? About 2-3 days.

Go get a donut and sit on it for a few. Take 15 aspirin and call me in the morning if your conscious. Seriously though, anything tailbone related is treated by sitting on a donut.

Truth, just need to take the pressure off and let it heal. Either way, back to new in a couple of weeks.

But don't take 15 aspirin.
