Mercifully, the season is upon us. I think it's ripe for the time honored internet sports board tradition of a prediction thread.

The Plot

2013 SCHEDULE

vs. Murray State W
vs. Toledo W
at Indiana W
vs. Arkansas State W
at Vanderbilt W
at Georgia L
vs. Florida L
vs. South Carolina L
vs. Tennessee L
at Kentucky L
at Ole Miss L
vs. Texas A&M W

6-6

Bowl Game W

7-6

Story Lines

- Henry Josey returns to his old self, leading the SEC in rushing in spite of the horrible Offensive Line.

- DGB leads team in Rec/Yards/TD's.

- There are 2 QB changes.

- Boehm emerges as a leader on the Oline, but a myriad of injuries rear their ugly head again.

- The defense is weak, especially in the secondary, as Gaines is hurt for most of the season, and never gets to 100%.

Most Endearing Moments

- Joseys return.

- Joseys first TD @ Faurot.

- The emergence of Printz in the last quarter of the season.

- Watching Boehm bash heads together Three Stooges style during the USCe game.

- The instagram message JF sends to everyone with smiley faces, telling the fan base to get behind Printz when he takes over.

Most Disheartening Moments

- Getting our asses handed to us, @home on CBS, by UT.

- Watching JF go Flip Pressey at the end of games.

- Long losing streak.

- The failure of Mauk.

Suprise Ending

- In an emotional Senior Day speech, GP announces his retirement. The team plays inspired football, and Printz leads the team to an upset of a ranked aTm team.

- We beat kansas in our bowl game.

- Josey declares for the draft.

Rating of Season

3.5/5 - 2 stars for the play on the field, 1.5 stars for the entertainment value on the interwebs during the season.

Final Thoughts

This season will be more of the same. Call it a sequel if you will. Never fear though, I hear they are in negotiations for BMFP, to star in the re-boot.

Having to choose between my head and my heart, I'm going with my heart. Putting the black and gold glasses on and drinking the kool aid.

2013 SCHEDULE

vs. Murray State W
vs. Toledo W
at Indiana W
vs. Arkansas State W
at Vanderbilt W
at Georgia L
vs. Florida L
vs. South Carolina L
vs. Tennessee W
at Kentucky W
at Ole Miss L
vs. Texas A&M L

7-5; 8-5 after the bowl game.

I do think Boehm will have a coming out year this year. I think Josey will do well, but not well enough to declare for the draft. DGB will put up good numbers but not big numbers because of the QB and as much because the ball can be spread to so many people.

Kicking game will cost us at least one game.

MU gets a commit from Markel Smith but still no other top 10 in-state recruits.

GP uses the opportunity to retire after a winning season because the writing is still on the wall with everyone complaining about a recruiting class that's still last in the SEC. Alden hires some guy that I've never heard of.

I'll use your same format:

The Plot

vs. Murray State W
vs. Toledo W
at Indiana W
vs. Arkansas State W
at Vanderbilt W
at Georgia L
vs. Florida L
vs. South Carolina L
vs. Tennessee W
at Kentucky W
at Ole Miss L
vs. Texas A&M L

7-5 (3-5)

Bowl Game W

Random shite

- Henry Josey makes it back, and seems strong in the parts of the first two games he participates in, but is injured versus Vanderbilt. Injuries linger.

-Russell Hansbrough gets the start, and proves to be more than able to put up good numbers.

-James Franklin misses the last three games and the bowl due to an injury.

-Berkstresser looks amazing in the game versus Kentucky and keeps the team in the game versus Ole Miss, but is intercepted early in the 4th for a pick six.

-Mizzou wins the bowl in dominating fashion making Berkstresser the presumptive starter for 2014.

-Boehm does fine, but doesn't impress.

-Gaines first team SEC.

-Pinkel keeps his job and lands a decent recruiting class.

HAHAHA

There is nothing 'kool aid' about that predication. That is basically the standard safe prediction. You have zero upsets, all W's are very winnable, all L's are likely.

I honestly believe this team is in the...

5-7
6-6
7-5

...range. Nothing more nothing less.

The only viable "upset" being either USC, FL, or aTm.

It's better than what my head tells me will happen. Head tells me we'll lose 1 OOC game. Vandy, UGA, UF, SC, OM and A&M are all losses. And we'll split UT and UK games, making us 4-8. So that's about as much kool aid as I can drink to make us 7-5.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see us dogs at Indiana, at Vanderbilt and against Tennessee. So I think those potentially are upsets.

If I had to pick a "big" upset, it would be the UF game.

I just noticed we have the same predictions, and I agree with everything you said in this post.

7-5 is my positive prediction.

Not going to be the sexiest candidate available, he's lesser known outside the area, doesn't have the longest track record and still has a decent potential to fail.

Sounds perfect for Mizzou.
