I think Pinkel is doing what he has to do short of paying players to sign.

His options are limited.

5-7 record, on hot seat, still readjusting to new conference and division.

He must open up the new territories. Mizzou will not get noticed by the 5-stars, but there is a whole lot of talent down there. Do what he did 10yrs ago, find the rough diamonds, the kids with a chip on their shoulder for not getting offers from their state school.

Then just win. Win and get noticed. Then the 4s & 5s will notice. Round out the class with them.

Fill the coffers. Don't be a few short of filling needs like we did last year.

Agree about winning and get noticed. We'll never get noticed by the 4 and 5*'s in Georgia, Florida, Texas and elsewhere though.

And yes, 5-7 and HC uncertainty has created a difficult situation for GP to recruit in BUT there is no excuse for the pathetic job he is doing in state still. Not only not getting the in state commitments but not even being mentioned by them. And Wingo isn't the only one.

I've said it before, for GP to have success, he HAS TO get the top kids in state and in the surrounding areas and then pull your diamond in the roughs from Florida, Georgia and Texas. Just can't have a whole class of diamond in the roughs. Win this year and maybe he does better but he's on a downward spiral right now and it might be that the only way to fix it is to bring in a fresh face.
