Well he's a defensive guy right? And his defense at Southern Miss was 113th in the country in scoring defense last year. He hasn't had any recent success, and your defense is already one of the worst in the league.

Plus Malzahn's style means your defense will be on the field a lot more. He's definitely got an uphill battle to make you guys competitive, and at his age we'll just have to wait and see if he has the energy for such a big job.
