That's really weird. I assumed sports talk was picking up everywhere. Hell, even in Vegas we have a great ESPN station that's on AM that just moved to a simulcast on FM with 8 hours of local programming in addition to a Fox Sports with local stuff and a couple other fringe stations with local programming. We got at least three hours of UNLV coverage during basketball season, and nobody gives a shite about UNLV
We don't even have pro sports. I'm sure STL will pick it up soon. It seems like sports talk is really gaining steam.
Then again, there's 2 million people betting on pro and college sports every day, so it may be a bigger sports town than it seems.

Sports talk is big here, it's just ever changing. ESPN on the FM has been pretty constant of a couple few years now but they have ex-pro athletes hosting the local shows so Rams and Cardinals get a lot of play. Plus, SLU has their basketball games on that station. It seems the AM stations change their format about every 5 years and this happens to be that time. The sports station with the same hosts float around on the AM dial but they pop up somewhere.
