I'm not going to get upset if we don't thoroughly recruit STL anymore. It's never really been a hotbed of talent, and a lot of these dudes seem less ready to compete than those from the western side of the state.
That would not be smart.

However, the bs that gets spewed forth from a lot of the STL media has been happening for years, and it makes zero sense.
Are you even in St. Louis? Have you read any of Dave Matter's articles? Frankly he is STL media when it comes to Mizzou sports and frankly he blows the doors off any one in COMO or KC or Springfield or anywhere.

Matter is the shite, and I think him moving east will make a big difference. However, in this world of waning print media viewership/subscriptions, the sports talk radio world is kind, and I think that's where Mizzou fails. I'm not in the markets, so I'm not sure, but it seems like Mizzou should have a much better "homerism" factor than it does considering the journalism and broadcast journalism school.

I agree. We need the whole state. We need the top talent in STL. We need the top talent in KC. We need the top talent in COMO. We need the top talent from all the smaller towns. Unfortunately, this year STL is going all over the place and KC is going to KSU and Neb. Mizzou is getting better media coverage in STL than ever. Paylor is doing a good job in KC. Not sure who has the COMO beat now. Media will be no excuse. Coaching, winning and salesmanship will be the key.

Matter is great. He is a definite step in the right direction. Lord knows Gregorian sucked.
Mizzou alum Jeff Gordon enjoys taking pot shots, as does that other knucklehead Joe Strauss.
The STL area has wasted too many years with youth soccer. That's all anyone played when I was a kid. I don't recall any youth football leagues.
As far as recruiting STL goes, of course we have to, and we definitely need to be sure and get the cant miss guys. I just think we have more success with lower rated guys from other states, mainly because the level of football being played is better than the product on the field in the metro area.
If there were 30 BCS level recruits in Missouri, which is a lot, I'd say that on average only 7-10 of them are guys that make any sort of an impact. Do some digging, the list of guys from STL that never make it in a BCS program for all 4 years is long.
