TigerBornTigerBred..

What 7 year period? Or by what metric?

Over the last 7 years (2007-13) Mizzou is in a three way tie for 16th by winning percent, a six way tie for 11th by total wins. If you limit those to just the big 5 conferences the numbers are a 3 way tie for 11th and a five way tie for 9th

LINK

Don't get me wrong, both are still great and worth celebrating. Especially when considering from 1970-99 we were 80th by percent and 74th by total wins...

It was 2005-2010.

Geezus effing christ people. Percentages and in-state recruiting doesn't mean shite. When these players that leave end up doing something, then we can complain about missing these players.

We are losing these guys because the staff isn't treating them like future 1st team AAs like other schools are. So far, it appears the staff is correct when they do that. Until the staff does it and misses a kid who actually does something of significance, all that matters is finding good players and winning. They are doing that for now.

It sure seems the kids GP's staff REALLY want badly, they don't miss.

I spent some time and figured out what you were referring to TBTB. It looks like if you only count 2007 and 2008 seasons, those 22 wins were the 3rd most behind OU and USC. I'm not sure that recruits today would be swayed by that.

Winning solves everything and that includes recruiting. Winning the east did a lot for the recruiting of southern kids. However I don't think it did much for the MO kids. The MO kids saw that we were able to compete and that 2012 was an anomaly. But the continuous message that the east was down leaves a slight question.

I would argue that kids in MO don't know the history of the SEC like southern kids. To them they see that MO won the weaker SEC division and got beat by the 'superior' west team (similar to the rep of the Big 12 north). The southern kids know that the East used to be stronger and believe it will be again so it's more impressive to them that MO beat Tenn. They also know about how the last two expansion teams adjusted whereas MO kids don't think about it the same.

I think that is a large part of the recruiting shift paying off quicker while it seems like MO kids are falling off.

So what 5 year old story is going to be dug up this time after we have a winning season? This is why I didn't like the SEC move, its a dirty league and they're going to use cheap shot tactics to affect our recruiting.

They probably are trying since MU and Vandy are the only two schools in the SEC that have never had their football teams on probation! Can't have us ruining their cheating reputation.

And with the recruiting we do I feel fairly confident that we are not paying players to come here... In theory we would be landing 'better' recruits!

Don't give up on college sports. They are by far the best type out there.

I love watching it so much that's why I haven't stopped but damn it they're making it hard with the ugly side of things.

I'm glad you understood my post though, I have a heart and I care about what happened to Mara Cauley but why wasn't the story brought up when it happened? Wasn't it interesting that it was brought up right after we won the east and in perfect time to sabotage the 2015 recruiting class? It's going to be a bitch to deal with this year after year because they will find dirt on our guys considering how often they get arrested. it's a big concern that nobody has really mentioned.

Yep, parents have been avoiding Mizzou like the plague since Pinkels DUI, heard it through the grapevine and I believe it.

ETA-Plus, I think the way DGB was handled shows just the opposite. Nothing but institutional control.

Yes. Finally. Preceded by the two year period you referenced which featured the arrest of the football coach, the Courey rape (allegedly at the hands of athletes), her subsequent suicide - all nationally featured on "Outside The Lines" - the Michael Dixon rape allegations and dismissal, plus the #1 recruit in the nation, Dorial Green-Beckham's, traveling Bong Show.

Plenty of shite that might give parents pause to wonder what the hell was going on in Columbia during the two year period in question.

Am I wrong here?

What you want me to slob his knob for going away from my favorite school when he is a hometowner? frick that, I do not wish him ill will but he is dead to me. I do not wish him ill OR well.

That isn't what I said at all. I said I don't understand the name calling and the general thought process behind getting mad at a kid for making a decision which suits him best.

Extrapolating this line of reasoning: since I'm from St. Louis heaven forbid I work for a biotech firm beside Monsanto, a brewery other than AB, or fly any non-TWA plane.

Why did you flip me off? My Dad was a former football player at Mizzou and his booster friend told me that Pinkels DUI really hurt our recruiting.

Since you called me out on tRant a while back, I've had an itchy trigger finger for taking offense toward you.

Apologies.

Mick, I keep hearing this is the best free site. Otherwise, try PowerMizzou.
