Uggh. Looks like he's still hyper sensitive. Forget what I said earlier about him toughening up this year.

Edit: Looking for a link. It's the scuttlebutt on TB right now.

If rude means the fans won't take his bellyaching bullshite excuses for not performing I'll take rude over being completely accepting of bad performances.

I read this earlier today.

No more than 4 wins this year, if that.

Even if you believe Mizzou fans are the rudest, as the leader of the team you simply shouldn't admit it in public.

I'm telling you people that this is a dark omen. I don't expect much this season other than chaos.

Earlier he clarified that the rudest comment he got was from a Mizzou fan, not that Mizzou has a rude fanbase.

Yea, I agree kills, he should have kept that to himself. Stupid thing to say even if its "true".

He either plays with a chip on his shoulder plays well or he is just an emotional basket case that unravels as soon as things get tough.

Dont know what will happen but that was a very awkward moment for him and the University on a big preseason stage.

He clearly said "Fans".

Nothing but trying to cover up the stinking pile of shite he just dropped in the litter box.

Maybe he's just playing mind-games with himself. Like, if he pisses of the fan base he can feed off of that and dominate the SEC this year.

James Franklin, feeding off of our outrage, leading us to a MNC.

Plausible.

It was pretty clear.

Reporter: Who do you think is the rudest fan base?

Superman: Uhhhh (nervous laugh)...probably Mizzou fans. Once I started performing poorly, they were pretty mean to me.

Boo fricking hoo.

It has been since the aTm game when JF was out there with his ridiculous Superman necklace on, smoking and joking on the sidelines, while a one legged JFF was single handedly beating our arse.

OK, y'all may not like this, but he was honest. I believe the question was about the rudest comments he got from fans. And I'm sure it was ours. I was absolutely embarrassed at some of the things that were said to him by some of our fans last year. People hid behind social media and tweeted incredibly hateful things to him - some even insulting his family, his girlfriend, etc. I may get frustrated, and angry, but I will never, ever insult one of our players behind the anonymity of twitter. It was terrible.

Should he have said it? Probably not. And I doubt he meant we were the rudest fans in general. But after some of the filth that was thrown his way by our "fans" last season...he was just being honest. It was really awkward, and an ignorant question for the reporter to have asked in the first place.

Franklin probably should't even have played at all last year. His shoulder was much worse than they wanted anyone to know. They pushed him because he was the best they had.

Im not knocking the guy, in fact, I defended him a lot last year. The bottom line for me is he put himself in front on the University with that comment.

I don't doubt he had some nasty things thrown his way but it happens everywhere when you have years like he had, it doesnt matter where you play. He threw the entire fan base under the bus because he got upset over some idiots the results of which were a shot at the University as well.

I understand where you are coming from Semo, I dont have a problem with honest but there are times when to be honest and times to be a leader for a football program and a University. I think his judgment says something about that.

Sorry semo, no meaning to put you on blast, Im not directing this at you really. That shite today just pissed me off.

No worries! We're all entitled to our opinions.

I can't imagine he meant to insult our entire fanbase though. What he said was awkward, but in general, he loves being a Tiger. I've tweeted him a couple of times, and always gotten a very polite response from him he's a classy kid.

I agree while i think the response was awkward so was the question. I think merely what he was trying to say was he knows the fanbase kept him very (brutally) accountable for last year. While i think JF is controversial on the field i think he is a good character individual and meant no harm to Mizzou or the Fanbase. It was his own opinion.

Here's a clarification on what he meant. Social media making a mountain out of a molehill. He meant one fan in particular, based on his understanding of the question.

Complicated kid.

Means well.

Comes off as too nice and almost flippant.

I hope he does well this season, I just stand in line with some of the others here that don't think he has "it".

Yeah - I feel like he's too nice to deliberately insult anyone, let alone our entire fanbase.

And you may be right - i'm hoping we see a return to his sophomore season form.
