Scouts are high on James Franklin apparently.

Missouri's James Franklin will garner plenty of interest from NFL scouts searching for a dual-threat quarterback capable of executing the zone-read at the next level. The Tigers star produced a 3,000/1,000-yard season as a sophomore before slumping through a disappointing junior campaign riddled with injuries. At the camp, Franklin talked about using some of the leadership lessons learned from the Mannings to engineer a turnaround season. From conveying positivity in the huddle after poor plays to preparing better in the film room, Franklin believes an improved attitude can get him back on track in 2013.

LOL, James executing the zone-read in the NFL? That guy has yet to watch the film I take it.

Encouraging. I hope he makes a believer out of this non-believer. Wouldn't be happier.

I don't buy it. Last year we were told he was 100 percent healthy to start the season only to find out that he wasn't. Then he would suddenly be healthy again to find out he in fact wasn't. Then he'd get hurt and refuse medical treatments due to religious beliefs. Then he failed to play the last game of the season reportedly because he didn't feel well when the trainers indicated that he was fine. He douched it up big time on the sideline in that game by wearing a giant blinged out superman necklace while Johnny Jizzball lit us up while playing with a hurt leg.
I'm not a fan. I think we'll do as poorly if not worse than last year. That's my honest, doom and gloom, prediction.
The plus side is that y'all know the typical outcome of Killz predictions...

I dont know. Im not sure he is an NFL passer. I think healthy he can run but he can't make the throws to be an NFL caliber QB. Not sure he has the burst like a Cam or RGIII
Just an opinion.

His 2012 season makes it easy to forget he did flash a lot of potential in 2011. Hopefully he learned how to mentally handle being a QB while at the Manning Passing academy.

I still put most of last season's debacle on the coaches. He was no where near ready to play at the beginning of the season, but they put him out there anyway since even hurt he was the best option they had. And they he kept getting re-injured, and they didn't give him a chance to heal. James did the best he could. He was the best chance for a decent season, so they pushed him too early, prolonged his rehab, and let him get gun-shy about getting hit behind a line you could drive a semi through on most plays. When you know it's coming, and you know how much it's going to hurt, it's no wonder it got into his head.
And, no, I'm not just speculating on all of this.
I really hope he has a great senior season. He is a fantastic representative of Mizzou, and a genuinely good kid. I like to see kids like that do well. I'm pulling for LaDamien Washington this year too.

I agree. The staff kind of panicked IMO. It would be like a coach wanting to pitch Carpenter every 3 days all season because he's your best pitcher and you're panicking to get wins. It's actually counter-productive to do it.

Let's put it this way. Typical rehab from that surgery is 10-12 months. They had him playing in less than 6.

You all think he has the arm for the NFL?
Im just not seeing it, even throwing out last year, he has had a hard time throwing outs 30 yards down field.
I don't know, I hope can play at the next level. I guess we will see.

I don't know if he has the arm or not. I expected to see a big jump from his sophomore to junior year, until he got hurt. Guess we'll find out this year.

No. I'm just hoping it's good enough to get DGB the ball.

Usually when people make a statement like this, it is an insult. But would you not love to have him back for next year?

Everyone needs to forget about the 2011 season for Franklin. He only produced against some absolutely terrible pass defenses. ku was terrible too, but he was terrible vs them. He played 9 defenses ranked worse than 70 in passing D that season. That isn't happening again in the SEC.

It seems to me what made his season stand out in 2011 was his ability to run. I don't remember his passing numbers knocking me over on a game to game basis. The question at this point, if that running game is pretty much eliminated either because of injury, susceptibility to injury, or because of the move to the SEC, can he actually carry a team with him arm instead of his legs. That is the big question mark for me that has never been proven.

I still like JF, but I'd have to agree with you. Last year was not a stellar year for him. He really damaged his stock when he declined the treatment. NFL teams want a player who is available, one who is not for what ever reason either gets passed over in the draft or they're not on the team long. Once money enters the scene, the game changes.
Also, Henson has mentioned the starting spot is JF's to lose. You can take that how ever you want, but I take it that if he begins to flounder, they won't hesitate to install Mauk. I've heard That niether Mauk no Berk are close to JF in unseating him, but who really knows but the ones involved. I find it hard to believe you could do much worse than JF's performance and attitude last year, but thats last year.

If your talking about his shoulder, wasn't it that he developed a bursa sac in that shoulder? I thought that was the reason for the shot. Or am I thinking of his knee and or someone else? I thought it was his shoulder though. The shot was an anitflammitory to take the sac down.
Anyways, the O-line's problems didn't help either. Hate beating a dead horse but to me he seemed to be taking alot of hits. These defenses in the SEC are much bigger too and it seemed they were making a point in holding him up in a few games to take extra shots on him. Especially the Georgia game. Either way it took a toll on his body for sure.

JF's shoulder was 100% to start last season. Everyone who watched him practice agreed.
he suffered a different injury vs UGA.
