I see it the other way. I think it's going to take a team like Oregon to beat the SEC (of course who knows what they are going to be like post-Kelly). I think when you don't have as good of athletes, you are better off being a little unorthodox, rather than trying to matchup styles and going toe to toe.
I do not think a team an "SEC-like" team, like Stanford, is going to get it done. That is kind of what Notre Dame was trying to do last year and it was embarassing. When you are outmatched athletically / physically, like most non-SEC teams will be, I think you are better off trying to keep the SEC team off balance, throw something different at them, like an Oregon style team could possibly do.
Moreover, it's becoming harder to say what an "SEC-like" team really is as there is a quite a bit of diversity of styles in the SEC now.
I can see that. No disrespect to Oregon, but I don't think their offense would be able to hang against the SEC's best defenses. We saw what happened in 2011. We saw what happened against Stanford last year, though both teams left points on the field. I believe Florida had the SEC's best defense last season, and we know that LSU fares well against the spread and hurry up no huddle offenses. However, Oregon could probably keep it close since LSU and Florida were one-dimensional in most games last season.

Oregon keeps on getting more talented on the defensive side of the ball. Next year the team will take another step forward. I've never seen this kind of depth at Oregon, especially on the defensive line. Likewise, the secondary is truly an embarrassment of riches. After getting laughed off the board saying that Jordan was Mingo's equivalent, I don't expect a lot of agreement on my assertion. Time will tell. It's not just the offense.
